Fish is a friend, not food. Or is it…? WHERE in Brno can you get fresh fish specialties or great sushi and who sells trout for your barbecue? You can find all this in the KAM na jídlo section in this WHERE in Brno issue.
Fish should be served at least twice a week. But which of us really does it? As a nation we’re just not used to fish dishes, especially seafood. It is not only due to the location of our country far from the sea, but also down to our traditional cuisine, still dominated by pork. Let’s change this together! Regular consumption of fish and other seafood has never been easier in our land. Yet we still ignore fish in our diet and prefer traditional meat products. The average Czech eats less than six kilograms of fish per year, which puts our country at the imaginary end of the of fish consumption list. The average European eats eleven kilos of fish per year, and the world average is 16 kilos.
