Shopping as a form of entertainment developed together with the middle class in Europe, in the 17th and 18th centuries. As the standard of living improved, the desire to buy things for pleasure emerged. In the 19th century the first department stores opened and were followed in the first half of the 20th century by the first shopping centres. With the development of the internet, people began to shop from the comfort of their homes.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about a massive expansion in this area and those who do not sell online may just as well not exist. In the (recent) past, online sales were the prerogative of large multinational brands or huge online stores. By contrast, today you can take your pick from local products and brands, because it is possible to buy many of them online. By making a purchase, you support a specific person or group of people behind the product. You are helping the local economy and getting things with a story behind them. In the “KAM za nákupy” section you will find tips for the most interesting Brno manufacturers and designers.
