An independent study ranked the Czech Republic as the 10th best country in the OECD to raise a family, well above the other Visegrad countries and all Eastern European countries.

The rankings were based on 30 factors across six categories (safety, happiness, cost, health, education and time). The country was ranked highest in safety, and the lowest in its (family) happiness, scoring an overall B+. For years, both rents and real estate prices have been rising quickly and significantly, with rents increasing at a slightly steeper rate. During the volatile first half of 2020, however, house prices seemed unaffected by the pandemic, whereas rents are seeing a declining trend, leading to a 50% year-on-year increase in prospective renters.
President Miloš Zeman and his wife, Ivana, will be paying South Moravia a three-day visit from September 1st until September 3rd. During their visit, they will be visiting municipalities, towns, and some major South Moravian companies, alongside meetings with the South Moravian governor Bohumil Šimek (for ANO) and citizens of the region.
