The D1 motorway, the longest, oldest and busiest Czech motorway, is in its final year of modernisation and is planned to be fully completed in the summer of 2021. 

Due to the construction, traffic might be restricted at several points. Modifications will be made to the road surface and overtaking belts in the middle driving strip. According to recent research by the non-profit organization STEM, about 40% of Czech internet users believe unsubstantiated rumors and conspiracy theories about the COVID-19 pandemic. The most commonly believed myths are that the COVID-19 virus was created artificially in laboratories, or that the pandemic is being used intentionally by governments to control society. The European Union will propose a “digital green pass” that indicates whether a traveller has been vaccinated against the coronavirus. The aim is to slowly enable safe movement in the European Union or abroad — for work or tourism. The proposal is expected to be adopted soon.
